Engineer. Pilot. Builder.

Two decades building enterprise software. Two decades selling technology to the world's largest companies. 3,600+ hours in the cockpit. Now building the software aviation needs.

Three careers.
One builder.

Most people pick a lane. I picked three and found they all lead to the same place: solving hard problems for people who can't afford to get them wrong.

I started as a software developer at BindView Development, spending six years building enterprise security and systems management products. I wrote code, managed programs, and learned what it takes to ship real software to real customers.

Then I moved to the other side of the table. For 20 years in enterprise sales at IBM, Borland, Telelogic, and Serena, I sold complex software to Fortune 500 accounts. Cobham, GameStop, Schlumberger, USAA, Nvidia, Southwest Airlines. I flew to London, Amsterdam, and Munich every six weeks. I closed $24M+ in deals and hit 130-200% of quota for eight consecutive years.

"I can sit in a room with engineers and understand what they need. That technical background lets me close deals that pure sales reps can't move forward."

Meanwhile, I was flying. What started as a hobby became a second profession: 3,600+ hours, Master CFI (Gold Seal Certified Flight Instructor), instrument and multi-engine ratings. I've taught hundreds of students and built five aviation apps because the tools I needed as an instructor didn't exist.

In 2026, I put all three threads together and founded Airworthy Labs: aviation software built by someone who actually flies, sold by someone who understands what enterprise customers need, and engineered by someone who's been shipping software for two decades.

AI consulting for industries
that can't afford to get it wrong

Domain expertise and engineering in one person. No hand-off between the strategist who scopes it and the developer who builds it. I do both.

Strategy

AI Strategy & Assessment

Identify where AI creates real value in your business and where it doesn't. Honest assessment from someone who builds it, not just talks about it.

  • Workflow analysis and opportunity mapping
  • Build vs. buy evaluation
  • ROI modeling for AI initiatives
  • Technical feasibility assessment
Development

Custom AI Products

Full-stack product development from concept through the App Store. iOS, web, cloud infrastructure. The complete stack, one person, no telephone game.

  • Native iOS / iPadOS applications
  • Cloud infrastructure and APIs
  • LLM integration and prompt engineering
  • Production deployment and monitoring
Machine learning

ML Integration

Embed machine learning into your existing products. On-device inference, cloud pipelines, or hybrid architectures that actually work in production.

  • CoreML and on-device model deployment
  • Computer vision and image classification
  • Natural language processing
  • Model training and optimization
Prototyping

Rapid Prototyping

From idea to working prototype in weeks. Validate concepts fast with real users before committing to a full build. Hardware integration included.

  • Concept validation and user testing
  • Functional prototypes, not mockups
  • Hardware integration and IoT
  • Iterative development with real feedback

Software I've built

These aren't client mockups. They're shipping products I built because they needed to exist. Each one demonstrates a different facet of what I bring to the table.

How I work

One person who understands your domain and writes the code. No telephone game between strategists, designers, and developers.

01

Understand

I learn your domain first. The problems you're solving, the constraints you work under, the people who'll use what we build. AI is the tool, not the starting point.

02

Prototype

Working software within weeks. Not wireframes or pitch decks. Something you can touch, test, and show to real users. Fast iteration, real feedback.

03

Build

Production-quality engineering. Clean architecture, proper testing, deployment infrastructure. Built to last, not to demo once and fall apart.

04

Ship

Real products in real users' hands. App Store deployment, cloud infrastructure, monitoring. The work doesn't stop at launch.

Full-stack capability

From on-device ML to cloud infrastructure. One person, the whole stack.

Scott Hutchinson

I build AI-powered software for specialized industries. My background is unusual: I'm a pilot with 3,600+ hours, a Master CFI (Gold Seal flight instructor), and a software engineer who's been shipping apps for over a decade. Before that, I spent 20 years at IBM selling enterprise software to Fortune 500 accounts across aerospace, defense, retail, and energy.

That combination matters. The best products are built by people who understand the domain, not just the technology. I've spent thousands of hours in cockpits, so when I build aviation software, I know what actually matters. And when I sell it, I know how enterprises buy.

"I build things that work in the real world, for people who do real work."

Based in Houston, TX. Airworthy Labs is an aviation software company building tools for pilots, instructors, and maintenance organizations. Open to consulting engagements across any industry where domain expertise meets technical opportunity.
